Group Chairman - Les Monks
Les Monks started L J Monks Ltd in 1975 having served as a colliery electrician and engineer with Doncaster based company Spraydon Engineering.
Over the years he has developed L J Monks Ltd from a one man band to the Group set up there is today with over 220 employees.
Managing Director - Warren Monks
As the eldest son of Les, Warren joined the Company in 1985 at 18 whilst completing an HND in Engineering on day release. He has gained wide experience of the Company's activities by working in both the Commercial and Industrial Departments before settling into the role of Department Manager of the Industrial Department.
Warren took on the role of Group MD in 2004 as the start of the handover process to the second generation of family.
Hobbies include Formula 1 and all forms of motor sport, model building and golf.
Group Financial Director - David Drury
David qualified as a Charted Accountant in 1982 and after several positions with various companies he moved into the construction industry in 1988 and spent 14 years as Financial Director of Westbury Structures Ltd, Wetherby before joining LJ Monks in 2004.
Outside of work his interests are centred around family and sport including watching Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday.
Director M&E Services - Tim Hopkinson
Having served an Apprenticeship within the Steel Industry Tim has over 20 years of experience within contracting at all levels. In 2004 he achieved a Masters Degree in Business with distinction and after holding a Director's role with Lloyd Morris Electrical went on to accept the position of Director of LJ Monks M&E Ltd in 2008. Tim now undertakes the role of Group M&E Services Director overseeing both M&E Ltd and Building Services Ltd.
Away from work, Tim's interests include playing golf and following football.
Procurement Director - David Monks
Youngest son of Les, David joined the business in 1985 as an electrical apprentice. After qualifying as an Electrician he spent further time on site before coming into the office as a junior engineer. David became the Groups Purchasing Manager in 1999 and in 2008 became the Group Procurement Director.
His hobbies include football, Iron Maiden and drumming.
Director - LJ Monks Building Services Ltd - David Burt
From a time served mechanical engineering background and solid career development in contract management, David came to LJ Monks Ltd in 2007 as the Group's Commercial Manager, progressing to become the Director of our Leeds Based Building Services Ltd in early 2009.
David brings to the LJ Monks team, a combined wealth of contract management and commercial awareness that is critical in providing the level of service, value and satisfaction that LJ Monks pride themselves upon offering to their clients.
Whilst being an avid motorsport fan David has committed himself to becoming a golfer.
Director - LJ Monks Process Ltd - Bruce Erskine
Bruce has circa 30 years experience in the Industrial market, working in Coal, Steel, Power Generation, Water & Sewerage, Quarrying and Material Handling industries. He commenced his career with Hall & Kay as a labourer, qualified as an Electrician, Electrical Engineer and progressed through Estimating, Engineering and Management to Director with LJ Monks Process in 2004.
His interests include playing golf, watching Rugby League and American Football.
Director - LJ Monks M&E Ltd - Steve Bone
Entering the electrical contracting industry in 1973 as an Indentured Apprentice to one of the oldest Cornish companies, Steve was taught early the importance of providing an approach based on integrity and honesty in the course of service delivery.
Moving to South Yorkshire in the late 70's he continued to utilize the skills provided, and developed commercial contract management skills, through his 20 year association with Powerminster Ltd and, the eventual parent company M J Gleeson Group
Steve joined L J Monks M&E Ltd in the summer of 2004, holding both Dept Manager and Operations Manager roles prior to his current appointment.
